If you have a nice High-Definition monitor and have been wanting the perfect screen saver for it, you might find the choices rather limited. I googled it found none….at first. But then I came across an article
that made the one and only true high def screen saver sound like much more than a screen saver.
If you haven’t tried the Electric Sheep screensaver you don’t know what you’re missing.
I’ve been running it for several months now and I find myself constantly blown away by the amazing new visuals it provides.
“Electric Sheep is a distributed screensaver that
harnesses idle computers into a render farm with the purpose of
animating and evolving artificial lifeforms. It uses a P2P network to
share animations and coordinate their evolution.”
Much like the SETI@home project, millions of computers contribute to the overall project. What’s great, and unlike the SETI thing, is that you see results on your computer in ever-changing shapes and colors that truly dazzle.
Posting some of the images here won’t truly do it justice. But here are some still examples. You can see video examples here.
