Nut of the week award: Arkansas GOP head: We need more ‘attacks on American soil’ so people appreciate Bush

In his first interview as the chairman of the Arkansas Republican Party, Dennis Milligan told a reporter that America needs to be attacked by terrorists so that people will appreciate the work that President Bush has done to protect the country.“At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001],” Milligan said to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, “and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country.”

Milligan, who was elected as the new chair of the Arkansas Republican Party just two weeks ago, also told the newspaper that he is “150 percent” behind Bush in the war in Iraq.

In his acceptance speech on May 19th, Milligan told his fellow Republicans that it was “time for a rediscovery of our values and our common sense.”

The owner of a water treatment company, Milligan was a relative unknown in Arkansas politics until being elected the party chairman. He had previously served as the party’s treasurer and the Saline County Republican chair.

  1. Of course PNAC went on record in August 2000 saying that their agenda for the USA to dominate the 21st century would be greatly helped if we were to have “a catasrophic catalyzing event-a new Pearl Harbor” which would allow the USA to be more agressive militarily and in that way establish permanent military bases in strategic locations and establish US world hegemony.

That, of course, happened 9/11/01 which allowed us to invade iraq and the rest is history. The US world hegemony part has not worked out very well.

Everyone who has not googled the website of PNAC which is the think tank of the Neoconsevatives should do so to read their own words.

To understand the Bush White House policy, one must understand that it is dictated by the Neoconservative cabal which has run the White House since 2001.

  2. The neocons have been around longer than that. They got powerful when Bush/Cheney took office. But they’ve been pushing policy behind the scenes since Nixon. (and , probably, before that)

  3. The Neocons got powerful when they got GW Bush in the White House as their puppet.

Bush the Elder referred to them as “Those crazies in the basement”

  4. heheh

But Cheney and Rummy WERE around during the Nixon administration.

There’s a story going round that the neocons are/were originally just disgruntled Southern/redneck Democrats

  5. Cheney and Rummy were in the Nixon Whte House and they were important players but they were not running the White House as they have been since Bush has been President.

One could say that was hearsay but it is direct testimony by Col. Lawrence Wilkerson , who was Colin Powell’s Chief of Staff in the Bush White House.
